Health and Safety Precautions for Wise County, Texas

Updates from County Judge J.D. Clark

We had our second conference call of the week between Wise County officials and representatives from our cities in Wise County. We also appreciate State Representative Phil King calling in to listen to our discussion and offer input.

Rep. King spoke at length about the importance of everyone exercising responsibility to take precautionary guidelines serious and practice social distancing and only traveling for essential business. The goal, as he said, is to protect the health of the public and get back to business as usual as quickly as we can.

Randall Preuninger, our Wise County EMS administrator, also spoke about the protocols that his crews have in place to protect our first responders from potential exposure. He also reminded everyone that EMS cannot administer COVID-19 tests in the field, so that must be ordered by a doctor.

I appreciate our city leaders being such strong County partners in this endeavor, and I encourage all of you to continue to practice social distancing and reduce potential for spread.

We have no confirmed cases in Wise County as this point, but I encourage you to continue to use this Texas Department of State Health Services map to monitor confirmed cases by county.
