Decatur-based technology company Energy Worldnet, Inc. is on a hiring spree.
Energy Worldnet CEO Coleman Sterling announced at a press conference May 26 the creation of 40 jobs in 2021 that will add $2 million in payroll.
“Energy Worldnet’s growth has been phenomenal over the past years,” Sterling said. “…In five years we’ve grown 300 percent.”
When many companies cut back on their staffing during the COVID-19 pandemic, Energy Worldnet brought on 22 new employees. The company is now looking to double their hiring from last year, adding positions in several fields, including human resources, sales, accounting, marketing and technology.
“We expect our growth to continue beyond 2021,” Sterling said. “As a 27-year-old company, you don’t expect explosive growth in your 27th year, but that’s exactly what we’re having.”
Decatur Mayor Mike McQuiston said the company, which is looking to expand its global footprint from six to 31 countries, is an example of success as the city looks to realize its Decatur 2050 vision through continued economic growth.
