Through the Stanley W. Ekstrom Foundation, Cardinal supports nonprofits in the communities where they have facilities. Ekstrom was the son of Cardinal founder Marvin Ekstrom and longtime president of the company. Described as “a man who felt life very profoundly,” Stanley Ekstrom made philanthropy a driving force throughout his life and was dedicated to “improving the lives of the unprotected,” says the foundation website. He died in 2015.
Members of the Decatur High School marching band kicked off the celebration last week, and in turn, they where the first recipients of a donation – $2,500.
Other groups that received donations included Raquel’s Wings for Life, CASA of Wise and Jack Counties, Wise County Christian Counseling and the Wise County Committee on Aging, $5,000 each. The Wise Health Foundation received a whopping $25,000.
