Texas Economy Snapshot


The Texas economy continues to recover from the impacts of the global pandemic and remains one of the strongest and most diverse economies in the nation. Below is a snapshot of the state's economic status: 

  • Texas gained 95,800 nonfarm jobs over the month of September 2021, marking gains in 16 of the last 17 months. (Texas Workforce Commission)
  • The Texas workforce was 14.1 million as of September 2021. (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics)
  • Texas gained 85,300 private jobs over the month of September 2021. (Texas Workforce Commission)
  • In September 2021, there were more than 47 new project locations announced in Texas by various news sources. The projects are expected to create $444.3 million in capital investment and 4,186 new jobs. (EDT Research)
  • Texas unemployment rate was 5.6% in September 2021. (Texas Workforce Commission)
