Schools see enrollment spike

Enrollments are up at a majority of Wise County school districts in the first few weeks of the school year.

Alvord, Decatur, Paradise and Slidell all saw significant increases to start the new school year.

Decatur had an enrollment of 3,653 as of Monday, an increase of 175 students since the last day of the 2020/21 school year and 477 more students than the first day of classes last year. So far this year, numbers have also been steadily growing. Since the first day of school three weeks ago, 36 more students have enrolled.
