Year marked by industry, retail growth

2021 was a big year for the local economy. Along with record sales taxes rolling, the county saw growth in industry and retail, bringing added revenue and even more importantly, jobs. 

One of the area’s biggest additions arrived in April, Cardinal Paint and Powder. Cardinal moved into a 62,180-square-foot building at the Eagles Landing Business Park, providing more than 60 jobs.

Decatur Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Kevin Holzbog expects more activity at the industrial park this year. Projects reported to the Decatur EDC board in November had the potential to bring more than 130 jobs.
