Historical Attractions

Take a dive into Decatur's history. Located in the home of the former Northwest Baptist College, the Wise County Heritage Museum actively preserves Wise County’s past. It is the headquarters for the Wise County Historical Commission and Society and in partnership with these organizations, educates citizens about the past through presentations, museum exhibits, and archives.

Wise County Park (at Lake Bridgeport)

Located on Lake Bridgeport, Wise County Park offers scenic lake-front RV and tent camping, boat ramps, swimming, fishing, picnic table, playgrounds, trails, and more. Day entry is free to visitors. Lake Bridgeport is located 40 minutes west of Decatur.

LBJ Grasslands National Forest Service

Located north of Decatur, Lyndon B. Johnson National Grassland offers over 20,000 acres of camping, hiking trails, horseback riding, fishing, and hunting. The area is used for recreation, grazing land for cattle, and habitat for wildlife.

Decatur Golf and Country Club

Play a round on one of the most challenging and entertaining 9-hole golf courses in North Texas. The course at the Decatur Golf Club facility in Decatur, Texas, features 3,233 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 36.
